Fire-hose drying tower

The volunteer fire brigade in Hlučín was founded in 1885 with the strong support of Mayor Stanislav Woytych (1850–1909). The following year, a new pump was purchased and a tower for drying fire hoses was built. Although usually an integral part of a fire station, the structure is curious here for standing on its own. The station itself was not built until two years later, and on a different site one street below. The drying house is a simple structure of brickwork on a stone plinth. Above the central part rises a drying tower with a timber frame anchored in the brickwork. The tower has weatherboarding and shutters. In 2005, it was designated a cultural monument for its unique design.
